Post New wind farm for Seil
.
A new privately built and owned 11-turbine windfarm is planned for the hillside opposite Loch Seil, overlooking Seil Island. The windfarm is to be built by Rory Young, who has taken over the management of Clachan Farm. He has decided it is more profitable and 'sustainable' than raising Luing cattle.

He says:
Quote:
With over half a century of involvement in an area there comes a strong sense of responsibility for maintaining it for future generations.

Householders in the area have been targetted with a glossy brochure extolling the possible community benefits, which some cynics see as a straightforward bribe.

Update: There is currently a planning application for a 50m high anemometer mast abover Clachan Seil. The closing date for objections was 31st August. It looks as though enough objections have been received for it to have to go to committee, which cannot be a bad thing.

See details on the Argyll and Bute Council website.
